Hi, my name is Garry and I am the MindFit therapist.

“MindFit” reflects my philosophy and ethos regarding how we view our health and wellness.

I believe that mental health is directly correlated with overall health and well-being, and mental fitness should be regarded as important as physical fitness. Just as our physical fitness ebbs and flows, our mental wellness may also. When we are mentally fit, we are able to cope with life’s demands in a more resilient and fulfilling way than when we are not as "mind fit." In these times, life can be harder to navigate, especially in the face of such challenges as bereavement, divorce etc.

I believe passionately that seeking therapy should be regarded in the same vein as seeing a personal fitness trainer for your physical health. Therapy gives you better mental health and overall physical well-being.

In short, mental health is health; one cannot exist without the other.

Many of us (myself included) suffer from physical manifestations of mental un-wellness in our daily lives such as Fibromyalgia, insomnia, fatigue, IBS and hypertension as well as many auto-immune conditions. By improving our mental health we can improve over time, the impact and severity of many of the physical symptoms associated with these disorders.

about me.

My education: Metanoia Institute in London is one of the world’s leading and renowned training organisations for counselling and psychotherapy and where I studied Humanistic Counselling. I use an integration of Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Person Centred modalities to help clients unlock their innate potential to lead more fulfilled lives.

My background: I have worked with many clients in both private practice and clinical settings. I also serve various non-profit charities in the provision of low-cost counselling, specifically for the prevention of suicide in men (still the largest killer of men under the age of 50 in the UK today).

I have specialist knowledge and experience related to drug and alcohol misuse as well as other addictions and addictive behaviours such as sex, pornography, over-exercising, disordered eating, gambling, and social media/phone addiction.

My clients: I work with adult clients experiencing a wide range of issues in private practice in Chelsfield and Sevenoaks, Kent. I also offer online counselling which means we are not limited to geography and can find times to better suit a busy lifestyle.

Regulatory body and ethical practice: I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I abide to practice under their ethical framework, meaning that I am committed to working with you safely and professionally in a manner that empowers you to identify what choices you have available and what resources you already possess.

I have full public liability and indemnity insurance and an up-to-date Enhanced DBS certificate.
